MONTREAL, May 29, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - Parks Canada and Mountain Equipment Co-op will hold its "Learn to Camp" event on June 16 and 17. A unique opportunity to camp on a genuine historic site on the shores of the Lachine Canal in downtown Montreal, or at Fort Lennox on Île aux Noix located in the middle of the Richelieu River. Parks Canada seeks to offer people living in urban regions an opportunity to discover camping and outdoor activities, and to connect with nature.
Busy weekend at the Lachine Canal
Just a few steps from the Atwater Market on Îlot Charlevoix, the banks of the Lachine Canal National Historic Site will be transformed into a campground. The site will feature activities throughout the weekend: enjoy rabaska canoe or cycling Canal experiences, and entertaining children's activities. On Saturday, June 16 and Sunday, June 17, a series of free Montreal Folk Festival concerts will be offered featuring Kevin Parent, Plants and Animals, Les Sœurs Boulay, Rob Lutes, Notre Dame de Grass, and many others.
