ST. JOHN'S, NL, Sept. 10, 2013 /CNW/ - CAMPUT, the association representing Canada's Energy and Utility Regulators, has announced the winner of the annual CAMPUT Award for Innovation and Leadership. The 2013 CAMPUT Award was presented at the organization's Annual General Meeting in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador.
The 2013 award recipient is the Alberta Utilities Commission for its leadership in guiding a consultative process with stakeholders to introduce changes to utility disconnection and reconnection practices for vulnerable consumers.
In announcing the Awards, CAMPUT Chair Raymond Gorman said, "This award reflects CAMPUT's commitment to improving public utility regulation in Canada. The Alberta Utilities Commission is to be congratulated for its leadership in advancing regulation and, in particular, regulation of services to the most vulnerable consumers."
CAMPUT is a self-supporting, non-profit organization of federal, provincial, and territorial boards and commissions which are responsible for the regulation of the electric, water, gas and pipeline utilities in Canada
