Canada - Korea Free Trade Agreement
ST. JOHN'S, March 11, 2014 /CNW/ - Martin Sullivan, President and CEO of Ocean Choice International, said the company is extremely pleased with the announcement of the Canada-Korea Free Trade Agreement. The Asian market is growing rapidly and this agreement will have a very positive impact on the seafood industry.
We commend the efforts of Prime Minister Stephen Harper and the Government of Canada on their continued commitment to expanding Canada's trade with other countries around the globe. Asia is the world's fastest growing economic region and seafood imports into this market will provide us with the opportunity to enhance our market presence throughout Korea and all of Asia. Mr. Sullivan noted Asian consumers recognize the value in seafood and this agreement will provide the opportunity for OCI's premium seafood to become more competitive in that market.
Mr. Sullivan stated that both the recent CETA (Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement) with Europe and the Korea free trade agreement will have a positive impact on seafood exports to Korea and European countries.
