OTTAWA, Ontario, June 28, 2017 /CNW/ -- Sakto Corporation, a real estate development and property management firm based in Ottawa, hosts several celebrations to honor Canada's 150 anniversary. Events include a BBQ with proceeds going to the Ottawa Food Bank Baby Basics Program; free ice cream to tenants and visitors; and street banners lining Preston Square with a one-of-a-kind anniversary design.
"We at Sakto Corporation are thrilled to celebrate 150 years of Canada's rich and diverse history," said Sakto Corporation Chairman Jamilah Taib Murray. "It's an historic moment and we are delighted to host charitable and festive celebrations."
The Canada Day BBQ will be on Thursday, June 29 at Preston Square. All food items are $1.50, a play on the 150th anniversary. Every cent will be donated to the Ottawa Food Bank's Baby Basic Program, which provides diapers, baby food, and formula to families in need within the Ottawa community.
Also on Thursday, Sakto Corporation will have an ice cream social for its tenants and guests.
"We hope that residents and tourists will join us in celebrating Canada's 150-year mark, to not only help a great cause but to also view our specially-designed banners across the square," continued Taib Murray. "Several months ago, we held a design competition for street banners and the winning design named, 'Coast to Coast' visually depicts Canada's diverse and captivating landscape in a stained glass inspired aesthetic."
The winning designer is Ottawa resident and Preston Square tenant David Hook and the banners will be displayed throughout the year.
