Canada and Quebec support move of Télévision De Charlevoix Ouest to new building
BAIE-SAINT-PAUL, QC, May 7, 2018 /CNW/ - The governments of Canada and Quebec recognize that cultural infrastructure plays a key role in developing dynamic communities and promoting Canadian and Quebec heritage.
The Honourable Amarjeet Sohi, Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, and Caroline Simard, Member of the National Assembly for Charlevoix–Côte-de-Beaupré and Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Tourism, today announced that the governments of Canada and Quebec will each invest just over $7,800 to undertake diverse work at the former convent, the Petites Franciscaines de Marie old.
The project involves renovating the convent to accommodate the Charlevoix-Ouest Television (TV-CO) station. Work involves replacing the flooring, redoing the plumbing, and updating the electrical system. Once completed, the Town of Baie-St-Paul will be able to offer residents community broadcasting and production facilities dedicated to media arts that will contribute to its cultural growth, all in a heritage building.
This financial support comes from the New Building Canada Fund, Provincial-Territorial Infrastructure Component—Small Communities Fund. The City of Baie-Saint-Paul will also invest just over $7,800 to bring the total government and municipal investment up to over $23,500.
