MONTREAL, Nov. 14, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - STIQ is pleased to confirm that Canada Economic Development has renewed its financial support for the association, in the form of a non-repayable contribution of $1,582,000 under the Québec Economic Development Program (QEDP).
"This funding will enable STIQ to continue its targeted actions with SMEs as well as larger firms in the Québec manufacturing industry, and in so doing fulfil its mission of improving supply-chain efficiency," said Normand Voyer, Executive Vice-President, STIQ.
Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Québec, made the announcement in person this morning as part of an event dedicated to Québec supply-chain development.
That activity also provided an opportunity for Meloche Group, an SME that is very active within the STIQ network, to explain the recent realignment of its business strategy, which has enabled it to improve productivity and position itself favourably with various major prime contractors.
"STIQ is the ideal network for making contact with the major prime manufacturers as well discussing best business practices with other SMEs," says Hugue Meloche, President and Chief Executive Officer, Meloche Group, adding: "Our membership in this association is key to our business development strategy, our operations and implementation of our own supply chain."
Pratt & Whitney Canada, a major prime manufacturer in the aerospace industry, also took the opportunity to underscore the benefits of collaborating with STIQ for the development of its network of Québec-based suppliers.
