Canada Post's social responsibility report highlights best safety performance in nearly 30 years Français
OTTAWA, June 7, 2013 /CNW/ - Canada Post's 2012 Social Responsibility report showed a 12-per-cent decrease in injury frequency from the previous year, marking the Corporation's best safety performance in nearly 30 years. The total number of lost-time injuries also decreased in 2012, by 11 per cent from 2011.
The report details Canada Post's social and environmental performance for 2012, including safety, employee relations, carbon emissions and community programs. The release of the report comes a day after Canada Post was named one of the best 50 corporate citizens by Corporate Knights. This marks the fourth time in five years Canada Post has earned this recognition.
With Canada Post's modernization, which includes increased motorization of delivery employees, more than 4,500 fuel-efficient Ford Transit Connect™ vehicles are now active in its fleet. This represents more than half of the entire fleet. Although the vehicle fleet has grown by 37 per cent since 2009, fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions have decreased by more than four per cent over the same period.
