Canada's Export Trade Supported by EDC's New Board of Directors
VANCOUVER, July 11, 2018 /CNW/ - Export Development Canada (EDC), Canada's export credit agency elected Kari Yuers, CEO of Kryton International Inc. to its Board of Directors on June 28th. She will be joining Lindsay Gordon, former President & CEO of HSBC Bank Canada, and current Chancellor of UBC, as the only other board member from the West Coast. Under Kari's leadership, Kryton has flourished from a family-run business to a company with a worldwide distribution network. Her expertise in elevating a local business to the global platform aligns with the mandates of EDC.
Kari currently serves as Senior Vice Chair on the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade. In previous leadership positions, she's focused on improving competencies of SMEs by engaging in export growth and creating a network of SME peer-monitoring roundtables. With a wealth of experience in risk management, she's eager to bring her SME perspective to EDC's leadership. "There are innumerable untapped opportunities for small and medium-sized Canadian businesses in foreign markets. Today, more than ever, Canadian businesses that choose to expand their reach to strengthen their customer base will benefit immensely." She says.
Having used EDC's services, Kari's quite familiar with their work. "EDC assists companies in thinking differently about their target markets and potential customers. I'm excited to bring my insights about providing support. Exporting to varied international markets mitigates risks and doesn't make you dependent on a single market."
Chair of EDC's Board of Directors, Martine Imran said, "We welcome the new Board of Directors who join us at a critical time in today's evolving trade environment. Together, they bring the skills and expertise necessary to ensure that EDC can help grow Canada's export trade and support Canadian businesses today and well into the future."
