OTTAWA, May 16, 2013 /CNW/ - Tim Edwards, President of the Professional Association of Foreign Service Officers, released the following statement today:
"In addition to withdrawals of service this week by our members in Africa, Mexico, and Ottawa, PAFSO today directed that services be withdrawn by our officers in the immigration section of Canada's embassy in Moscow.
We will continue rotating withdrawals of service at key missions abroad and units at headquarters until Treasury Board returns to the negotiating table for a substantive and genuine discussion on addressing the pay inequities to which Canadian diplomats are subjected.
In addition, we acknowledge the support of Israel's Foreign Service Workers' Association, which is also undertaking job action to obtain equal pay for equal work. PAFSO's members in Tel Aviv participated in an exchange of letters to bolster solidarity and mutual support with our Israeli counterparts."
