EDMONTON, June 21, 2017 /CNW/ - Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC) is encouraging residents in the Red Deer, Alberta area to follow the direction of local authorities in the aftermath of high winds and severe storms. The City of Red Deer has issued a State of Local Emergency and authorities are working hard to clean up and restore power to affected areas.
"The first priority is to ensure the safety of yourself and your family," said Bill Adams, Vice-President, Western, IBC. "Insurers across Alberta want to remind consumers that when severe weather occurs, it is important to understand their insurance policies and to know what is covered. If damage occurs, policyholders should contact their insurance representatives if they have any questions."
