Canada's Premier Laboratory Science Conference to Take Place in Gatineau

GATINEAU, QC, June 1, 2012 /CNW/ - LABCON2012, the national conference of the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS), will bring together laboratory professionals from across the country. The conference will be held in Gatineau, Quebec from June 2 - 4, 2012 at the Hilton Lac-Leamy.

LABCON2012 is the premier professional development conference for laboratory professionals and is the largest event of its kind in Canada.  Over 300 lab professionals will converge on Gatineau to discuss various laboratory and health care related topics.

"Laboratory science professionals provide the vitally important data used to diagnose and treat patients," states Tricia VanDenakker, President of CSMLS' board of directors. "By investing in the development of the profession, through events such as LABCON, we are really investing in quality patient care across Canada."

This year's conference holds a special significance as CSMLS is celebrating its 75^th anniversary. A museum exhibit will display artifacts, photos and documents throughout the entire conference.  The celebration will culminate with the 75^th Anniversary Gala, taking place on Sunday June 3^rd.

"It is a wonderful opportunity to bring so many lab professionals together from across the country to celebrate this achievement as well as share regional challenges and success in laboratory medicine."

The Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science is the national certifying body for medical laboratory technologists and medical laboratory assistants, and the national professional society for Canada's medical laboratory professionals. Incorporated in 1937 as the Canadian Society of Laboratory Technologists, the society has over 14,000 members in Canada and in countries around the world.
