Canada’s Small Business Saturday is this weekend: If we all shop small, it can make a big difference Français
TORONTO, Oct. 17, 2012 /CNW/ - Across Canada, small business owners and consumers are eagerly awaiting our country's first Small Business Saturday this weekend. Thousands of hard-working entrepreneurs have signed up for this important initiative, presented by the Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB) in partnership with Interac®.
Small businesses create jobs and keep communities strong and vibrant. Many Canadians want to support locally-owned, independent businesses, but they don't always know where to shop. Similarly, small business owners are always looking to attract new customers, but find it difficult to compete with big business advertising budgets.
Consumers can find all sorts of special deals and promotions by visiting www.shopsmallbiz.ca and entering the first three digits of their postal code. Businesses that have not yet signed up can still do so - it's not too late.
Small Business Saturday will bring entrepreneurs together with Canadians who admire the work they do.
Many great stories are waiting to be told. October 20th will be a big day for small business.
As Canada's largest association of small- and medium-sized businesses, CFIB is Powered by Entrepreneurs™. Established in 1971, CFIB takes direction from more than 109,000 members in every sector nationwide, giving independent business a strong and influential voice at all levels of government and helping to grow the economy.
