OTTAWA, May 2, 2018 /CNW/ - The Government of Canada recognizes the important role that educators in all regions play in preparing young Canadians to become the leaders, innovators and middle-class workers of tomorrow.
Teachers and early childhood educators from across the country today received Canada's highest honours for Teaching Excellence, Teaching Excellence in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) and Excellence in Early Childhood Education at the Prime Minister's Awards ceremony in Ottawa.
The Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, joined Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at the ceremony. This new category recognizes that tomorrow's breakthroughs and discoveries depend on the ability of today's teachers to nurture young Canadians' curiosity and passion for STEM.
The Prime Minister's Awards for Excellence in Early Childhood Education recognize Canada's most talented early childhood educators who give their students the best possible start in life.
