Wild Water Kingdom is now Canada's Premier Sports and Entertainment Destination
TORONTO, May 18, 2012 /CNW/ -Thrill seekers take note - Wild Water Kingdom isn't just Canada's largest and best salt water park anymore. The 100 acre property in Brampton at Steeles and Finch Avenue is undergoing a major expansion that will see it become a premier spot for those that seek a full day of thrills, excitement and entertainment for both the young and the young at heart.
For Wild Water Kingdom's 24th season, it is unveiling several new attractions including Face Drop, Canada's first and only face‐first zip line. You can now fly like Superman on one of FOUR 1200 foot long high tension cable rides, reaching speeds of 50km/hr soaring from one end of the park to the other. Riders will start high atop the tallest water slide in the park as they fly over the massive wave pool, meandering lazy river, and a lush tropical paradise - Caribbean Cove. They'll see all the sunbathers and swimmers below, so long as they're able to keep their eyes open.
"With the closing of Ontario Place this summer, we will ensure that families still have a fun water‐based destination to visit on those long hot summer days," said Kevin Siu‐Chong, Managing Director of Wild Water Kingdom. "Investing in new attractions in the park offers kids and their parents a reason to keep coming back to The Kingdom all summer long." To keep the little kids not feeling left out, The Kingdom has also built a mini‐zip line in their child‐friendly area. That, along with a new obstacle course and mini rock‐climbing wall will keep the young ones going all day.
The Kingdom is also going to be home to a new state‐of‐the‐art golf driving range. Featuring the area's first fully automated golf tee system where the ball is automatically set every 4 seconds on the tee after each drive. Now, you can enjoy the full driving range experience without the constant bending allowing you to concentrate completely on your game. This system also includes touch screen technology and launch analysis at every tee station so you can improve your performance by comparing your results in a fun and unique way. Novice to advanced players can book coaching lessons with the Pro for groups and private sessions.
"Given all of the exciting new enhancements to the Park, we're actually starting to call it The Kingdom," said Mr. Siu‐Chong. "Even though Wild Water is still a really important aspect of the experience, The Kingdom is more fitting because we're really so much more than just a water park now."
Adding to the full experience, The Kingdom's Drive‐in Theatre will return for its 3rd season, opening on May 18, bringing the latest Hollywood releases and special theme movies to the Park. The Kingdom is also offering large groups a unique movie screening opportunity. This allows a local organization, for example, to host a special 4‐day film festival at The Kingdom. "We'll customize a theme package for any group that wants to book the facility," said Mr. Siu‐ Chong. "They can even host a party for 2,500 at the licensed Caribbean Cove."
The Kingdom's Sports Complex, Toronto's most spectacular 60,000 square foot dome, features a climate controlled sports facility boasting state of the art synthetic turf and lighting. Accommodating up to three fields of soccer, baseball, lacrosse, touch football and Ultimate Frisbee - it's perfect for parties, tournaments or team building functions. The Kingdom is bigger and better than ever offering something for every member of the family this year.
