A Selling Exhibition at Sotheby's New York S|2 Gallery
NEW YORK, Feb. 12, 2014 /CNW/ - As part of its winter S|2 programming, Sotheby's is pleased to present Canadian Abstraction, a selling exhibition of mid-century Canadian abstract art in New York. This will be the first exhibition of its kind outside of Canada in decades and will highlight some of the best examples of works by members of the Automatistes, Plasticiens, Painters 11 and their contemporaries. The exhibition features more than 30 works from 1945 - 1975, and includes major paintings by Jean-Paul Riopelle, Jack Bush, Paul-Émile Borduas, Charles Gagnon and Claude Tousignant, among others, as well as works on paper, sculpture, prints and photographs. On display from 14 February - 9 March 2014, the exhibition will coincide with Armory Art Fair in New York, Sotheby's auctions of Contemporary Art and 20th Century Design in early March, and another S|2 selling exhibition of work by Italian artist Harry Bertoia.
