<p>WASHINGTON, <chron>Sept. 16</chron> /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- With Prime Minster <person>Stephen Harper</person> set to meet with <person>President Obama</person> in <location>Washington, DC</location> this week, the Canadian American Business Council (CABC) is hopeful that the visit will highlight the importance of relations between the U.S. and <location>Canada</location>.</p>

<p>"<location>Canada</location> and the U.S. share the world's largest and most comprehensive trading relationship, supporting millions of jobs in each country," said Maryscott Greenwood, Executive Director of the CABC. "Recognizing the interconnectedness between the two economies is more important than ever as our leaders work together to address the economic challenges that lay ahead - something that the majority of Americans wholeheartedly support."</p>

<p>Recent research from the CABC showed that 55 percent of American voters support an exemption for Canadian companies from "Buy-American" laws to promote bilateral economic cooperation.  At the same time, 61 percent of American registered voters want to continue free trade with <location>Canada</location> to create jobs.</p>

<p>The meeting will also highlight the importance of U.S./Canada relations in addressing energy security and climate change.  <location>Canada</location> supplies more oil, natural gas, and hydro-electricity to the U.S. than any other country.  In addition, many believe that Canada's vast oil sands, coupled with the increasing supplies of natural gas contributions from both sides of the border and the growing contribution of renewable energy, are the path to energy security.</p>

<p>Greenwood continued:  "Addressing energy security and climate change policy requires close collaboration between these two historic partners.  We are hopeful that this meeting will help set the stage for ongoing discussions about how <location>Canada</location> and the U.S. can grow and strengthen the partnership built on shared values and mutual dependence.
