TORONTO, Dec. 9, 2013 /CNW/ - Rogers today announced that Canadian Business is merging with PROFIT to create an all-encompassing business magazine with enhanced content to best serve the various business audiences across the country. The new monthly publication incorporates the editorial expertise of both brands under one umbrella, and will continue to publish under the iconic Canadian Business brand. The result is a powerhouse business magazine with a projected readership of more than 1 million.
The new Canadian Business publication launches January 16. It will be published monthly, with two bonus PROFIT-themed issues aimed at entrepreneurs, for a total of 14 issues per year. PROFIT will continue to be published as a special section within every issue.
"The new frequency and enhanced content of the new Canadian Business allows us to do more of what we do best - provide intelligent analysis, context, and thoughtful features to the business community," said Duncan Hood, Editor-in-Chief of the new Canadian Business. "The PROFIT section within Canadian Business will continue to deliver the actionable information that entrepreneurs need, while offering a larger audience access to the latest thought-leaders in innovative thinking."
PROFIT will continue to produce its definitive annual ranking of Canada's Fastest-Growing Companies, the PROFIT 500, and the W100 ranking of Canada's Top Female Entrepreneurs, as part of the new Canadian Business. In addition, Rogers will continue to operate CanadianBusiness.com (recently named Website of the Year at the Canadian Online Publishing Awards), and PROFITguide.com - Canada's most popular website for entrepreneurs.
Canadian Business is also launching a new strategic business unit - CB Insights. Leveraging Rogers's deep understanding of Canada's business audiences, CB Insights is designed to serve the communications and marketing needs of midsize and large corporations. The new unit offers a full menu of strategic communications and research expertise, including custom research reports, sponsored events, custom publishing inserts, and multi-year cross platform communications programs that combine various services into a single, comprehensive, turn-key plan.
"With the evolution of the magazine and launch of CB Insights, we are delivering added value to our Canadian Business and PROFIT stakeholders - business communities and advertisers," said Ian Portsmouth, Publisher of the new Canadian Business, and former Publisher and Editor of PROFIT. "As we adapt to the significant change in the media industry, we are continually evolving our business model to best serve our audiences."
The new Canadian Business will be available on Next Issue Canada - the all-you-can-read subscription digital magazine service, recently launched by Rogers. Canadian Business remains the country's oldest and most-read paid business magazine and becomes further strengthened by the editorial expertise of PROFIT, Canada's largest and most successful magazine for small business and entrepreneurs.
