Canadian Business College Partners with The Institute of Law Clerks of Ontario (ILCO) - Launches New Law Clerk Program
New curriculum provides students with practical legal knowledge in the areas of research, analysis and theory.
TORONTO, Nov. 20, 2014 /CNW/ - Canadian Business College, one of Ontario's premier private career colleges, is pleased to announce it has partnered with The Institute of Law Clerks of Ontario (ILCO), the province's professional association for law clerks. The partnership has enabled CBC to work directly with ILCO to develop and roll-out a new Law Clerk Program based on its leading curriculum. Approved by the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities (MTCU), the newly launched program provides students with extensive knowledge in areas such as Real Estate, Litigation, Estates and Corporate Law.
"Partnering with ILCO ensures we provide students with the industry respected training required to succeed in today's demanding and detailed legal field," said Jeffrey Nicholson, In-House Counsel and Faculty of Law Director at Canadian Business College. "Upon completion of the program, graduates will be eligible to write the ILCO Estates, Corporate, Real Estate and Litigation exams, draft and deliver legal documents, write and edit legal letters, memos, and reports, and conduct the legal research that is critical to legal firms."
Canadian Business College is currently one of the few private career colleges offering ILCO-based curriculum as part of its Law Clerk training. Unlike other colleges, CBC's Law Clerk Program is taught by practicing legal professionals who possess real world experience. Former ILCO Board Director, Suzanne VanSligtenhorst, manages the Law Clerk Program for CBC.
"ILCO's curriculum is the gold standard for Law Clerk training and development in Ontario," says John Nelson, President & CEO. "Helping to address the growing demands of Ontario's legal industry through our comprehensive, focused and hands-on approach is very exciting. The CBC Law Clerk Program affords students the opportunity to complete their training much sooner and with a better understanding of real-world workplace requirements."
Canadian Business College's 52-week Law Clerk Program and internship was developed in partnership with ILCO. The college offers day and evening classes to students at its Toronto, Mississauga and Scarborough Campus locations. The modular structure of the Law Clerk Program allows for continuous intakes.
