-Selection Committee Prepares to Select Outstanding Business Leaders-
TORONTO, Aug. 22, 2017 /CNW/ - The Canadian Business Hall of Fame is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. David F. Denison as the Chancellor of the Order of the Business Hall of Fame. Each year, the Canadian Business Hall of Fame recognizes and celebrates the lifetime accomplishments of Canada's most distinguished business leaders. Canadian business leaders are nominated by their peers and are chosen by an independent Selection Committee representing Canada's foremost leaders from across business, academia and media institutions.
"As Chancellor, I am extremely honoured to be able to work with the distinguished Members of the Selection Committee to help recognize outstanding business leaders who demonstrate integrity and have made significant contributions to the Canadian economy and fabric of our country," said Mr. Denison, Chancellor, Order of the Business Hall of Fame.
The Canadian Business Hall of Fame wishes to thank Mr. Brian M. Levitt, Chairman of the Board, TD Bank Group, for his leadership and contributions as Chancellor over the last year. Mr. Levitt has been involved with the Canadian Business Hall of Fame since 2013, and under Mr. Levitt's leadership as Chancellor, four outstanding individuals were inducted in May 2017.
"I would like to thank Mr. Levitt for his commitment to preserving and promoting the legacy of Canadian business leaders by serving as the Chancellor of the Order of the Business Hall of Fame," said Mr. Denison. "This is an extraordinary opportunity to honor outstanding leadership that inspires us all. I look forward to continuing the legacy that has been built by Mr. Levitt and other previous Chancellors."
Mr. Denison will preside over the annual nomination and selection process as a member of the Canadian Business Hall of Fame Selection Committee. As national partner of the Canadian Business Hall of Fame, Lee Hecht Harrison Knightsbridge is responsible for managing the overall search by identifying and shortlisting potential nominees according to key criteria. The Canadian Business Hall of Fame holds a variety of events in support of JA Canada, the largest being the annual Gala Dinner and Induction Ceremony.
"We are honoured to welcome Mr. Denison as Chancellor of the Order of the Business Hall of Fame," said Mr. Scott Hillier, President and CEO, JA Canada. "With his extensive knowledge and experience, he will help guide our Selection Committee to identify and recognize the 2018 Companions for their business excellence, outstanding professional achievements and enduring contributions to Canadian society. The Chancellor and all members of the Selection Committee play an important role in honouring the legacies of Canadian business leaders who serve to inspire young entrepreneurs and our future business leaders to achieve their dreams and create lives that enrich us all."
The 2018 Class of Companions will be announced this fall, and will be formally inducted into the Canadian Business Hall of Fame at the 40th Annual Gala Dinner and Induction Ceremony on May 17, 2018 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. Proceeds from this gala help JA Canada continue to provide students with financial literacy, work readiness and entrepreneurship programs, which are essential to their future success.
