Canadian Cancer Society in Ontario appoints new CEO to lead the fight against
cancer
TORONTO, May 25 /CNW/ - The Canadian Cancer Society, Ontario Division is pleased to announce the appointment of Martin Kabat as Chief Executive Officer of the Canadian Cancer Society in Ontario effective May 25, 2010.
"We are delighted to have Martin join the Canadian Cancer Society," says Stephen Baron, Chair, Ontario Division Board of Directors. "We welcome his extensive experience and commitment in the fight against cancer."

Kabat, a senior executive, brings extensive financial and academic experience gained internationally in both the profit and not-for-profit sectors. He served as President and CEO of the Canadian MedicAlert Foundation from 2004 to 2007 and most recently held the position of President and CEO, MedicAlert Foundation International.
Previously, he held the position of Vice President, Finance and Administration, at iFire Technology Inc., a subsidiary of The Westaim Corporation that sponsors the development of new commercial technologies in Canada and the United States. Earlier, as CFO for The Travelstead Group, Kabat was responsible for an international portfolio of companies based in the USA, Spain, Holland and Australia.
Martin received his undergraduate degree from Washington College in Maryland, his M.A. and Ph. D. from New York University and his M.B.A. from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
