Canadian Cancer Society, Ontario Division, CEO steps down

TORONTO , Sept. 30 /CNW/ - The Honourable Susan Whelan , CEO, Canadian Cancer Society, Ontario Division, has resigned citing health reasons.

Ms. Whelan was diagnosed with breast cancer this past August and has been undergoing chemotherapy since.

"I fully understand Susan's wish to focus on her health and her cancer fight right now," said Marion Kirsh , Chair, Board of Directors.

"At the Canadian Cancer Society we know this is a difficult time for her. Susan is a fighter and she is committed to beating cancer completely. The staff and volunteers of the Canadian Cancer Society, Ontario Division, join me in wishing Susan the very best," Kirsh added.

Rick Perciante, Vice President, Development and Marketing has been appointed acting CEO.
