TORONTO, May 6, 2013 /CNW/ - On May 4, the Canadian Cancer Society awarded its first national Impact Awards to honour the Society's most dedicated, passionate volunteers and recognize their exceptional commitment to fighting against cancer. These awards, to be given annually, are the Society's highest volunteer honour.
Volunteers are the backbone of the Society's work in research, support and advocacy across the country. Their enthusiasm and perseverance help the Society fulfill its mission of the eradication of cancer and the enhancement of the quality of life of people living with cancer. The Impact Awards go to truly exceptional volunteers who have made significant impact, demonstrated innovation and injected excellence into aspects of the Society's work.
"Volunteers are critical to our accomplishments, and we wouldn't be able to support, inform and empower those touched by cancer without them," said Pamela Fralick, President and CEO of the Canadian Cancer Society. "The Society would like to thank all 2013 Impact Awards recipients for their excellence, innovation, leadership and dedication to the eradication of cancer."
