StableView TECH18 Event To Tackle Key Issues Facing Canada's Technology Sector
TORONTO, Oct. 3, 2018 /CNW/ - StableView Asset Management announced today it is hosting its 5th annual technology event on Thursday, October 4th in Toronto. The full-day event dubbed TECH18 is as an opportunity for members of the investment community to get better informed about the key issues impacting Canada's growing tech sector.
"As an industry, we in the Capital Markets have done a very poor job supporting technology companies in our own backyard," says Colin Fisher, president and founder of StableView Asset Management. "The consequence are significant and if we don't get more engaged we run the risk of seeing U.S. players gobble up our intellectual property for pennies on the dollar."
TECH18 is the only event of its kind that sees many top investment firms gather with some of Canada's most promising tech companies to better understand the issues, trends and developments propelling the industry forward.
"This industry is moving at light speed and everyday there are new advances that we need to get familiar with from artificial intelligence to cryptocurrency and blockchain", adds Fisher. "We have incredible leadership in these areas including the work Blockchain pioneers Don and Alex Tapscott have started with the Blockchain Research Institute. If we don't get educated in these spaces we'll not only fail to recognize these contributions, we'll be too quick to judge when mistakes happen, which they inevitably will.
In addition to an impressive list of promising tech companies, TECH18 will feature several compelling panel discussion including Harvard Associate Professor Laura Huang and New Yorker staff writer Sheelah Kolhatkar exploring whether gender bias is robbing us of investment opportunities.
Registration for the event is free and along with the agenda can be found at StableView.ca
