Canadian Competition Bureau determines Georgia-Pacific "not a competitive
risk" in purchase of certain Grant Forest Products facilities
ATLANTA, March 3 /CNW/ - Georgia-Pacific received notification from the Canadian Competition Bureau that the Bureau has completed its review of the company's potential acquisition of certain Grant Forest Products facilities and has found no competitive risk. Georgia-Pacific announced in January that it had entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Grant Forest Products' oriented strand board (OSB) facility at Englehart, Ontario, the associated facility at Earlton, Ontario, and OSB facilities at Allendale and Clarendon, S.C.
The transaction is expected to close in the first half of 2010, following appropriate U.S. and Canadian regulatory and bankruptcy court review and approval.
