Canadian customers to benefit from safe AI-powered virtual makeup try-ons with L'Oréal's ModiFace beauty tech now available on Amazon Français
MONTREAL, June 16, 2020 /CNW Telbec/ - L'Oréal's Augmented Reality and Artificial Intelligence entity, Toronto-based ModiFace, has announced that it will provide its AI-powered technology to enable the first virtual try-ons for cosmetics on Amazon in Canada. Canadian customers will benefit from the ultimate beauty tech available and will be able to test their favorite shades of lipstick, eyeliner or eye shadow in a safe and secure environment. By using the front-facing camera on their mobile phone, they will be able to virtually try on different makeup shades via a live video of themselves, a selfie, or a model picture, without any physical contact.
The uniqueness of the ModiFace technology — which is run on Amazon Web Services — lies in its photo-realistic results and an automatic shade calibration enabled by AI. This allows retailers to easily and instantly incorporate the virtual try-on experience for an unlimited amount of products. The Augmented Reality simulation of each shade is done automatically, based on AI-powered analysis of information provided by makeup brands, but also images and descriptions of the product available on social media. The technology is able to analyze textual and visual information related to a particular makeup shade and to realistically reproduce it via Augmented Reality.
"With new technologies such as our AI-powered virtual makeup try-ons, the beauty market is witnessing a true revolution in services, enabling a much richer relationship with the consumer. Gaining their trust and attention is critical for us, and this new service helps us to provide them with a safe and secure way to test their favorite products. We are proud to be able combine more than 100 years of beauty expertise and knowledge of our consumers with cutting-edge digital excellence made right here in Canada", said Robert Beredo, Chief Digital Officer of L'Oréal Canada.
Parham Aarabi, CEO of ModiFace, said: "We are delighted to team up with Amazon Canada to provide its customers an Augmented Reality makeup try-on that offers highly realistic results and makes online shopping even more comfortable. Thanks to a precise color rendering, enabled by our unique AI-powered technology, shoppers can easily try-on thousands of makeup products available on Amazon Canada and purchase the shades that fit them best".
This technology on Amazon be made available in Canada for L'Oréal Canada's L'Oréal Paris, Maybelline New York and NYX Professional Makeup brands as of June 16, 2020 at https://www.amazon.ca/vto.
