Canadian Dermatology Association Event advisory - Nova Scotia MLAs, staff and
survivors to participate in Legislature skin cancer screening and awareness
event, Wednesday April 21, 2010

HALIFAX, April 16 /CNW/ - MLAs and staff at the Legislative Assembly of Nova Scotia will have their skin checked for skin cancer by Halifax dermatologists at Province House, Halifax, on Wednesday April 21, from 12 noon to 2.30 pm.

Organized by the Canadian Dermatology Association, the event aims to highlight the need for early detection of skin cancer and make people aware of the signs of this disease.

Many skin cancers can be identified by people themselves, their partners or close family members, so knowing what to look for is crucial.

Bill Casey, long time federal MP, melanoma skin cancer survivor and Nova Scotia's Department of Intergovernmental Affairs senior representative in Ottawa, and Halifax melanoma survivor, Doreen Dingle will also be participating in the awareness event.

    -   Halifax dermatologist and CDA Sun Awareness Program spokesperson, Dr.
        Richard Langley, will be on hand from 12.45 pm to 2 pm for interviews
