Canadian Event Series raises $1,000,000 for Charity
City Chase returns to Toronto to celebrate $1,000,000 raised in support of Right To Play
TORONTO, Aug. 2, 2012 /CNW/ - Four years ago, City Chase The World's Largest Urban Adventure Series, was looking for a strategic partnership that would further enhance the participant experience. The Canadian born series brought on new title sponsor Mitsubishi Motors and along with it grew a fruitful partnership with charity Right To Play. Rounding out its final year, this mutually beneficial sponsorship has allowed City Chase to encourage over 40,000 Chasers across 12 markets in Canada to show support for Right To Play and the series will reach the $1,000,000 mark before its Toronto event on August 11, 2012.
"We didn't know how an adventure series like City Chase would fit into the traditional fundraising mold," said Johann Olav Koss, President and CEO, Right To Play. "It turns out we were right, they were anything but traditional and their creativity and dedication has set the model for incorporating charities into alternative-exercise event and has changed the lives of over 20,000 African children."
In City Chase, teams of two Chasers must find and complete ChasePoint challenges hidden throughout their city based on cryptic clues they will receive. Chasers are encouraged to fundraise throughout the summer to earn incentives that will help them in the competition and potentially earn a spot in the 2012 Canadian Championships in Whitehorse, Yukon. Some incentives include teams' first ChasePoint (so they will only have to complete 9), a Jump The Line card, as well as time advantages.
"City Chase is designed to push people out of their comfort zone, showcase the city, its history and culture," said Dave Nash, partner and Vice-President, InField Marketing Group (creator of City Chase). "Over the last four plus years we've layered more opportunities for Chasers to help those less fortunate and in some instances fundraising can be the difference between winning and losing."
Over the next few weeks, City Chase will celebrate the $1,000,000 fundraising mark with different participant based events, culminating in their next event where they will make the official cheque presentation to Right To Play. Key highlights include a ChasePoint stunt in Nathan Philips Square where Chasers may have to shave their head, eyebrow or eat a bug, fundraising themed challenges on event day and one lucky participant will receive the $1,000,000 bib.
A creation of InField Marketing Group, City Chase is a global consumer event series, offering unique experiential 1-day adventures that have toured various major markets throughout the world. Based in Toronto, InField Marketing Group has already successfully executed City Chase events in major markets across Canada, Europe, Australia, Asia and the United States.
