Canadian Family Businesses to be Honoured
OAKVILLE, ON, May 1, 2012 /CNW/ - Three Canadian family businesses have been nominated for the Family Enterprise of the Year Achievement Award (FEYA) to be awarded by the Canadian Association of Family Enterprise (CAFE) at a gala celebration on May 25th at the Château Laurier in Ottawa.
This year's nominees include: The Halifax Seed Company, Halifax, Nova Scotia; Label Innovation Inc., Ottawa, Ontario; and the Collins Family of Companies based in London, Ontario. Prior recipients of the prestigious award include larger companies such as Rogers Communications and E.D. Smith & Sons Ltd. as well as smaller companies such as Beau's All Natural Brewing Company. The FEYA award was established in 1986 to celebrate and recognize the importance of family enterprise to local communities and the Canadian economy. Family businesses constitute 80% of all business worldwide and create an estimated 70-90% of global GDP.
The FEYA awards gala is held in conjunction with CAFE's 2012 Symposium, the only conference of its kind in Canada consisting of engaging presentations and workshops delivered by leading family business experts. Both the FEYA awards and CAFE 2012 Symposium are made possible through support from presenting sponsor, BMO Harris Private Banking, and sponsors Tony Graham Automotive Group, Ferguslea Properties Ltd., Canadian Capital magazine and BDO SuccessCare.
