OTTAWA, July 14, 2017 /CNW/ - Today, the Canadian Gas Association launched its bid campaign for Canada to hold the Presidency of the International Gas Union (IGU) from 2021 to 2024 and to host the 2024 World Gas Conference.
If successful, the 29th World Gas Conference (WGC) will take place in June 2024 in Vancouver, British Columbia. The Charter and Premium Associate Members of the IGU will vote to determine the Presidency and the conference host at the IGU Council meeting in Tokyo, Japan in October 2017.
The World Gas Conference has been held every three years since its initial session in 1931. The event has grown over the decades and now is a major global industry activity attracting several thousand delegates and exhibitors. Owned by the IGU, the WGC continues to take place every three years in the country holding the office of the Presidency (elected every three years by IGU members).
