Canadian golf sensation Brooke Henderson to appear at Ottawa East Golf Town

OTTAWA, Aug. 15, 2017 /CNW/ - Canadian superstar Brooke Henderson wants to inspire a generation of Canadian golfers, and will meet with her fans on August 18, 2017 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Golf Town's Ottawa East store to kick off the return of the CP Women's Open to the city.

"If I can try to help grow the sport or encourage someone—a young girl or boy or any Canadian—to pick up this amazing game, I feel like I'm making a real contribution," said Henderson, 19, who has four LPGA Tour wins, including the 2016 KPMG Women's PGA Championship. "I love to give back in any way I can, and it'll be great to meet with my fans at Golf Town as I head into a busy week at the CP Women's Open playing at my home course, Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club."

Golf Town is showing its support for the young Smiths Falls, Ont. golfer by providing 300 juniors with the opportunity to join the "Brooke Brigade." As part of Brooke's fan base, the 1^st 300 young golfers who show up at Golf Town's Ottawa East store on Aug. 18 will receive gift bags, which include a t-shirt, her signature Ping visor, and a junior pass that allows for access to the Golf Town Brooke Brigade viewing zone at the CP Women's Open. The first round kicks off on Aug. 24. Henderson will also sign autographs with her fans at the Golf Town Ottawa East store.

Henderson, from Smiths Falls, Ont., has been a golf star since winning the Canadian Amateur in 2013 at the age of 15, and finishing 10th at the U.S. Open the following year. She was the top-ranked amateur golfer in the world prior to turning professional in 2014, and is has the second-most LPGA Tour wins of any Canadian. She is currently ranked 12th in the world.
