Rising track & field star joins program to support athletes and recognize moms who help them achieve greatness
TORONTO, June 3, 2015 /CNW/ - It's only a matter of time before Brianne Theisen-Eaton is a household name in Canada. The country's top female heptathlon star is on the rise – recently besting her own Canada heptathlon record en route to winning the season's first major heptathlon competition. Reaching the top of her sport has been no small task – one she feels would not have been possible without the support of her mom, Kim.
Theisen-Eaton and her mom are a natural fit for the P&G Thank You Mom campaign. From growing up in Humboldt, Saskatchewan, to competing worldwide, Brianne and Kim rely on P&G products everyday including personal favourites like Tide, Bounty, Gillette and Pantene.
"I was honoured when P&G approached me to become involved in the Thank You Mom program," says Theisen-Eaton. "This program gives me a chance to shine the spotlight on my mom – one of my biggest champions."
P&G created the Thank You Mom program in 2012 as part of a global Olympic platform. While the campaign focuses on elite athletes and their moms, its intention is to recognize all moms who support their kids every day, many of whom rely on P&G products at home so they can focus on their kids.
"At P&G, we know that becoming an elite athlete begins at childhood and a supportive team is required to get to the top of your sport," said Joyce Law, Senior Communications Manager at P&G Canada. "When we first spoke with Brianne and Kim, it was very clear that they could be ambassadors for our brands like Tide and Pantene because they have relied on these brands so they can focus on what's important."
"I'm honoured to be part of this program and to share this opportunity with Brianne," says Kim Theisen. "While I happen to be the mother of an elite athlete, my job was not so different than other moms across Canada. I did my best to be there for Brianne so that she could dedicate herself to the sport she loved. I relied on quality products for my family and taught Brianne to do the same."
As part of the company's ongoing commitment to support athletes and salute their moms, all Athletics Canada athletes competing at the upcoming Pan Am and Parapan Games in Toronto and their moms will receive P&G product packages including Tide, Febreze, Gillette, Venus, Pantene, Old Spice, and COVERGIRL.
