Canadian Library Association/Association canadienne des bibliothèques Announces New Executive Director
OTTAWA, Jan. 8, 2014 /CNW/ - The Canadian Library Association / Association canadienne des bibliothèques is pleased to announce the appointment of Valoree McKay to the position of Executive Director.
Ms. McKay, a resident and native of Ottawa, comes to CLA/ACB with a strong background in national association leadership and management with an emphasis on advocacy, strategic planning, fundraising and membership development. Her experience includes executive directorships with the Canadian Association of Physician Assistants and the Canadian Association of Emergency Physicians. She has also worked for the Canadian Lung Association. Ms. McKay has also been an active volunteer with such organizations as the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ottawa, and the Ottawa International Jazz Festival.

"We believe that the experience and qualities that Ms. McKay brings to our organization is exactly what is needed to lead CLA/ACB through the challenging times ahead. Ms. McKay was selected after a nation-wide search. She has a Baccalaureate of Arts from the University of Ottawa, is certified by the Canadian Society of Association Executives and is fully bilingual. Ms. McKay will assume her position on Monday, January 27, 2014. One of her first duties will be to attend the Ontario Library Association Conference January 29-Feb 1, 2014. This will be immediately followed by the first meeting of the 2014 CLA/ACB Executive Council to be held at Ryerson University on Feb 2-3, 2014.
