TORONTO, Oct. 19, 2018 /CNW/ - Many important privacy developments have taken place in 2018. Major announcements called for amending Canada's private-sector privacy law and developing a national data strategy. The EU's new privacy law (GDPR) went into force, leaving many Canadian organizations concerned about its extra-territorial reach and hefty fines. Canada's privacy regulator published guidelines on consent that describe important legal elements with which organizations are required to comply.
