TORONTO, June 10, 2012 /CNW/ - At its biennial convention today, CMG delegates from across the country voted to support the movement for democratic principles and against Bill 78 in Quebec.
"Workers in Canada depend on the right to organize, to assemble and to speak out," says Carmel Smyth, national president of the CMG. "This country is in a critical moment. If we stay silent, we will lose our rights in our workplaces, on the street and in our communities."
The Canadian Media Guild is a union that represents workers at 11 media organizations across Canada. The biennial convention, which drew 165 delegates from every province and territory in Canada, wraps up today in Toronto.
