MISSISSAUGA, ON, March 14, 2014 /CNW/ - Three Olympic silver medalists -- Carolyn Darbyshire and Cheryl Bernard of Calgary, and Shelley-Ann Brown of Etobicoke - have joined a new team: Team World Vision. They will all run marathons this Spring to raise funds and awareness for World Vision Canada.
Darbyshire will run a half marathon and Bernard the full 42k in the Calgary Marathon. Brown will run 5k in the Mississauga Marathon.
"This might be my biggest mental challenge yet," says Cheryl Bernard. "This is my give back moment, and I believe the bigger team I build, the more children we can help. I promised myself I would do something worthwhile with the silver medal, that it wouldn't just hang in a case to be admired. With winning comes responsibility."
The Olympians join The Amazing Race Canada's Mitic brothers, Jody and Cory, who will run for Team World Vision in Ottawa.
