Canadian Pacific pays tribute to war veterans
Remembrance Day ceremony to be held at new Head Office
CALGARY, Nov. 10, 2014 /CNW/ - Canadian Pacific continues to pay tribute to the more than 33,000 CP employees who served in the last century's two world wars. This tradition of service continues, with Canadian and American employees currently listed as reservists.
These brave men and women will be honored at CP's Remembrance and Veteran's Day ceremony on November 11 starting at 10:30.
The ceremony will be held at CP's Head Office, located at Calgary's Ogden Yard. The location for the ceremony will be at CP's new Memorial Square, which has been built this year in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the start of the First World War.
CP Memorial Square is located adjacent to the top parking lot by the 69th Ave SE and Ogden Dale Road SE entrance.
During the ceremony, CP executives, employees, CP Police Service officers, pensioners, members of the Lord Strathcona's Horse Royal Canadians, and the public will observe a minute of silence at 11:00 local time. All CP trains and engines across Canada and the United States will sound their whistles at 11:01 local time, in tribute to the men and women who have served their country.
In Canada, CP moves Canadian Forces' equipment and is one of Canada's most supportive employers of primary Reserve Force personnel. In the United States, CP is a proud partner of the US Army PaYS program, which recruits soldiers interested in obtaining a quality civilian job following service to their country.
