OTTAWA, April 3, 2012 /CNW/ - The Canadian Paralympic Committee extends its deepest condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Dr. Gord Sleivert, Vice President of Canadian Sport Centre Pacific, who passed away suddenly on the evening of April 2.
Gord was in Montreal attending meetings with Swimming Natation Canada and working with CSC Pacific staff at the 2012 Canadian Olympic and Paralympic Swimming Trials.
"The Canadian Paralympic Committee is shocked and saddened by the sudden passing of Gord Sleivert," said Henry Storgaard, CEO of the Canadian Paralympic Committee. "Gord's passion and dedication to supporting Canadian athletes in their pursuit of the podium was unparalleled, and he will be greatly missed by the entire Paralympic sport community. Our thoughts at this time are with Gord's family and everyone whose lives he touched."
Gord had been with CSC Pacific since November 2003 and was responsible for leading the design and implementation of a number of innovations which enhanced the training and performance of elite Paralympic athletes.
