Canadian Patient Access Inc. and Nightingale to provide mypatientaccess.ca to
the Richmond Hill Pediatrics Clinic
Secure patient portal to be implemented alongside the Nightingale On Demand ASP Electronic Medical Record solution
MARKHAM, ON, Sept. 21 /CNW/ - Canadian Patient Access Inc. and Nightingale Informatix Corporation (TSX-V:NGH) ("Nightingale" or the "Company"), an application service provider (ASP) of electronic medical records (EMR) software and related services today announce that mypatientaccess.ca, Canada's first secure, interactive patient portal will soon be made available to parents of more than 10,000 pediatric patients treated at the Richmond Hill Children's Clinic (Richmond Hill, ON). The secure patient portal provides real-time access to patients' Personal Health Record (PHR). mypatientaccess.ca is fully integrated with Nightingale's web-native, leading EMR and practice management solution, which will be implemented in the clinic.
"Having recently launched mypatientaccess.ca in partnership with Nightingale, we are very pleased to be working with the Richmond Hill Children's Clinic to help them enhance the level of service they provide to their patients," said Moe Jiwan, President of Canadian Patient Access Inc. "Parents of the young children treated at the clinic will experience the immediate benefit of no longer having to wait on the phone to book an appointment - they can do so by simply going online 24/7. Parents are highly engaged in the care of their children, and now, with mypatientaccess.ca, they will have secure, real-time access to their children's pertinent healthcare records."
The Richmond Hill Children's Clinic provides patient care in pediatric endocrinology, pediatric otolaryngology, pediatric allergy, pediatric behavioral issues, and pediatric rheumatology in addition to general pediatric medicine. The integrated, web-based capabilities of mypatientaccess.ca and the Nightingale On Demand EMR respond to challenges faced by the clinic. By subscribing to mypatientaccess.ca, parents will now be able to book appointments online, review their medical records, receive lab results online and request prescriptions online and conduct eConsults, reducing the large volume of telephone inquiries received each day, thereby allowing staff improve the overall healthcare delivery experience to the clinic's young patients.
"Much of our excitement about implementing mypatientaccess.ca along with Nightingale's EMR is the efficiency in time that our physicians and staff will get," said Dr. Norman Blustein, one of the lead physicians at the Richmond Hill Children's Clinic. "When we learned that patients, and in our case their parents, could schedule appointments in real-time through mypatientaccess.ca, we immediately saw the positive impact this could have on our patients and their families."
The web-based capabilities of mypatientaccess.ca also allow patients to access their PHR, review laboratory results once reviewed by the Physician and immunization records in real-time, request prescription refills online, download physician-approved educational material, and receive clinical reminders and alerts electronically, among other features. Another significant challenge faced by the Richmond Hill Children's Clinic is the management of patient records, which currently exceed more than 60,000 paper files. Their decision to select Nightingale as their EMR technology partner was a result of the Company's market leadership position in web-native EMR technology and its reputation for Fanatic Customer Service.
"The physicians and staff at the Richmond Hill Children's Clinic manage an incredible number of patients each day," said Sam Chebib, President and CEO of Nightingale Informatix Corporation. "As a web-based application, Nightingale's EMR solution will allow the physicians to better manage and securely maintain their patients' health information. Many of the physicians have hospital affiliations, and having 'anytime, anywhere access' to files is critical. Treating children is an important responsibility and we are committed to working with the Richmond Hill Children's Clinic for a successful transition to EMR and implementation of mypatientaccess.ca."
