TORONTO, June 5, 2014 /CNW/ - The Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS) recognized Daniel Granger APR, FCPRS with the 2014 CPRS Award of Attainment during the 2014 CPRS National Awards Gala on May 27. Daniel was acknowledged in front of industry peers for his outstanding achievement and service in the public relations industry.
"I am very honored to be receiving this award and I sincerely thank the many people, women and men, who guided me over the course of my professional life. Luc Beauregard gave me the chance to learn the true work of a public relations consultant and urged me to get involved with the CPRS," said Daniel Granger. "The CPRS will continue to play a key role in mobilizing the skills and dedication of its members in meeting our new challenges, but there is a challenge that concerns us all as Canadian public relations professionals - that of our linguistic duality. In the coming years, I believe that anyone who aspires to preside over the CPRS should develop her or his ability to understand and express themselves at least moderately in our two official languages."
The CPRS Award of Attainment is presented to CPRS members whose personal activities and leadership have gone beyond the call of duty. The work conducted must also have contributed to the status and acceptance of the public relations function as a whole.
Daniel Granger has been a member of CPRS for more than 20 years, including serving as National President from 2002-03. He helped CPRS adopt a new board governance model, and managed the National Office transition in the early 2000s. Daniel was also involved in the international public relations community, acting as a founding member of the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communications Management, a confederation of the world's major PR and communication management associations and institutions which represents 160,000 practitioners and academics around the world.
Daniel Granger remains actively involved in the CPRS community as he holds several positions, including vice-chair of the CPRS College Fellows, appeal chair of the National Council on Accreditation and Judicial & Ethics Committee chair.
The Award of Attainment was one of several noteworthy awards presented at this year's gala. The Major Awards recognize exceptional involvement in the public relations profession and candidates are nominated by peers.
