TORONTO, May 30, 2017 /CNW/ - The Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS) honoured David Rowney, APR, FCPRS with the 2017 Mentor of the Year Diamond Jubilee Award. A member of CPRS Hamilton, Rowney was selected unanimously by the CPRS Board of Directors and Awards Committee for exemplifying the critical role mentoring plays in the public relations profession. Rowney, who accepted the Award earlier, was acknowledged by his fellow CPRS members on the second day of Illuminate, the CPRS National Conference, in Kelowna, B.C.
"Despite his demanding career, Dave never wavers in his support for his CPRS Hamilton commitments. His word is his bond and the trust and goodwill he engenders are contagious," said nominator Ginny Jones, APR, FCPRS. "Dave fosters exemplary relationships in all of his worlds. His years of service to the profession and to mentoring generations of practitioners makes [him] an excellent candidate for this important award.
Established to celebrate the Canadian Public Relations Society's 60th Anniversary, the Mentor of the Year Diamond Jubilee Award recognizes the outstanding effort of public relations practitioners who have consistently and actively mentored public relations practitioners to advance in their careers.
Rowney was one of nine Major Award recipients recognized for exceptional involvement in the public relations profession during Illuminate 2017, the CPRS National Conference, held May 28-30 in Kelowna B.C.
