Canadian Society of Immigration Consultants Chair passes the reins at annual
conference
TORONTO, May 12 /CNW/ - The Canadian Society of Immigration Consultants' (CSIC's) 2010 education conference successfully inspired and educated Certified Canadian Immigration Consultants from across Canada, but as Chair John Ryan announced his resignation it was also a time to reflect on CSIC's history and its future.
"The regulation of immigration consultants has been a labour of love for me since 1994," said Ryan. "I've seen immigration consulting grow into a proud profession and I've been privileged to play a role in fighting for regulation, defending consultants' right to practice and protecting consumers of immigration consulting services."
Nigel Thomson, who has worked as an immigration consultant for his entire adult life, has become CSIC's new Chair.
"John has been a part of CSIC from its inception and his expert guidance has been crucial to CSIC's increasing maturity as a regulator," said Thomson. "He leaves behind a legacy of strong governance and an unwavering commitment to consumers that informs everything that CSIC does."
Following Thomson's promotion to Chair the Board elected Alfred Wong as Vice-Chair.
"I'm honoured that the Board has chosen me to take a leadership role in guiding CSIC's future," said Wong. "I look forward to using my position to further CSIC's consumer protection efforts."
Ryan continues to work for CSIC as its Acting CEO.
