FOURTH ANNUAL BRIDGEHOUSE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM (BSP) LAUNCHES TODAY AT BridgehouseScholarship.com WITH $2,000 EACH FOR 10 WINNERS
Scholarship Promotes Critical Investor Knowledge to Young Canadians 16-22
TORONTO, May 1, 2015 /CNW/ - An annual one-of-a-kind scholarship award program that promotes investor knowledge to Canadian students—and rewards 10 winners with $2,000 each—launches today at BridgehouseScholarship.com. Bridgehouse Asset Managers first introduced the program (originally the Brandes Scholarship Program) in 2012, aimed at Canadian young adults aged 16 to 22.
The BSP is open for written submissions until June 15, 2015.
In its first three years, the BSP received submissions from more than 10,000 young Canadians. To date, it has awarded 30 scholarships (10 annually). To qualify, participants complete a short online "investor profiling" quiz and write a 400- to 500-word essay explaining what they learned about their investing personality. Quiz questions and corresponding profiles were developed by The Brandes Institute, a San Diego-based investment think-tank with deep expertise in investor behaviour and portfolio management.
Commenting on their experience last year, winners said they felt "empowered" and had learned the importance of developing sound investing habits at an early age.
"The health of our future economy depends on today's young Canadians and we have made a multi-year commitment to the Bridgehouse Scholarship Program to help them grow their investor knowledge and competency," says Bridgehouse President and COO Carol Lynde.
Summary of Key Facts About the 2015 Bridgehouse Scholarship Program:
"We hope parents, family members, teachers, friends and others who have contact with eligible Canadian youth will encourage them to take part," says Lynde. "We want to reach more students than ever before with critical knowledge that will have a lasting and positive impact on their financial well-being."
About the Bridgehouse Scholarship Program:
The Bridgehouse Scholarship Program is Brandes Investment Partners & Co.'s initiative to advance investor knowledge and financial responsibility among Canadian youth.
