National search celebrates those who dedicate their lives to inspiring their students
TORONTO, Oct. 10, 2018 /CNW/ - Post Foods Canada Inc. announced the winner of the Search for Goodness, Teacher Edition. This national search recognizes teachers who have inspired their students. After receiving more than 283 submissions, Post is proud to announce Kurtis Hartnell of Belleville, Ontario as the 2018 winner. Nine teachers from across Canada were also selected as finalists and will be recognized for their commitment and contribution to the communities in which they live.
Kurtis' nomination stood out due to his craftsman skills and creative thinking to design a kid-friendly learning environment full of activities. He uses imaginative incentives to challenge his students to problem solve and improve their French language skills. His innovative classroom setup enables cooperative learning which helps students develop a deep sense of personal satisfaction and achievement.
"Over the past six years, we have had the pleasure of reading thousands of stories about Canadians from coast to coast who dedicate their lives to making their communities a better place," said David Bagozzi, VP Marketing, Post Foods Canada Inc. "People like Kurtis make such a difference in the lives of many without ever asking for, or expecting, recognition. The winner and our nine finalists truly embody the goodness that we, as a company, want to celebrate."
The nation-wide Post Search for Goodness Teacher Edition program launched May 28, 2018. Canadians had until August 20, 2018 to nominate a teacher who has inspired them. People across the country were invited to vote for their favourite story until August 27th. This year, the 10 nominees with the most votes, moved on to the finalist category and the winner was selected by a panel of judges at Post Foods Canada Inc.
To recognize Kurtis for his genuinely good contributions, he will receive $5,000 to help spread even more goodness within his community. Additionally, Kurtis's School will also receive $5,000 as a prize. See how Kurtis impacts the lives of the students he teaches by visiting searchforgoodness.ca.
