Canadian Tire Corporation selected as company of choice for CFA Society Toronto and CFA Society Ottawa's Research Challenge
Ontario universities to compete for place in the local final held in Toronto
TORONTO, Sept. 24, 2015 /CNW/ - Canadian Tire Corporation, the trusted brand that Canadians turn to every day for retail, gas and financial needs, has been selected as the company to be researched and analyzed for CFA Society Toronto and CFA Society Ottawa in the local CFA Institute Research Challenge. Ontario university student teams taking part in the local competition will prepare equity research reports on this Canadian-listed company that will be reviewed and scored by financial industry professionals.
The CFA Institute Research Challenge celebrates its 10th year anniversary this season. It is an annual global competition that provides university students with hands-on mentoring and intensive training in financial analysis. Students work in teams to research and analyze a publicly traded company, and each team writes a research report on their assigned company with a buy, sell, or hold recommendation.
Four teams will be chosen to move on to the local finals in Toronto in February, 2016. Teams that progress to local, regional and global finals must present and defend their analysis to a panel of industry professionals. Students learn from experienced industry experts and peers from the world's top business schools. In 2014-2015, more than 4,000 students from 70 countries participated in 99 local Research Challenge events. This years competitions culminate in Chicago, Illinois for the global final in April 2016.
"We are excited to participate as the subject of this year's CFA Society Toronto and CFA Society Ottawa's local Research Challenge. We wish them luck in the Challenge!" said Dean McCann, EVP and CFO, Canadian Tire Corporation.
