Now in its fifth year, companies are selected on the basis of their performance across a broad range of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) indicators tracked by Sustainalytics, a global leader in independent sustainability research. The companies selected also rank at the top of their respective peer groups in Sustainalytics' Global Platform. Published annually, the Top 50 Most Socially Responsible Companies are profiled in the June 25th issue of Maclean's Magazine, which is available on newsstands today.
This honour adds to a growing list of acknowledgments and awards bestowed upon Canadian Tire for programs and performance related to business sustainability and corporate social responsibility. Last week, the company was recognized by Corporate Knights as one of the Best 50 Corporate Citizens in Canada. Canadian Tire's business sustainability strategy and performance were recognized earlier in the year with the GLOBE Award for Best Green Retailing Practices, which is considered to be the most high-profile national awards series of its kind. The company was also added to the STOXX Global ESG Leaders Index family and is the only Canadian retailer included.
