VANCOUVER, June 4 /CNW/ - The Canadian Tourism Commission (CTC) is premiering outdoor screenings of unique and exotic tourism experiences to inspire even more Canadians to go local this summer.
To kick off Tourism Week, independent and innovative videos of great Canadian tourism experiences will be projected on the sides of buildings in six of Canada's largest urban centres on June 4th and 5th, beginning at sunset. The screenings will play for approximately three hours each night.
"National pride is running at an all-time high and Canadians are increasingly showing an interest in experiencing what their country has to offer," said the Honourable Rob Moore, Minister of State (Small Business and Tourism). "The Canadian Tourism Commission's LOCALS KNOW campaign takes an innovative approach to inspiring all of us to keep exploring this great country. I look forward to its continued success."
CTC invites all Canadians to head to the streets of Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal to catch a glimpse of the screenings.
"With clips from every corner of our country, this unique initiative is bound to grab our nation's attention," says Michele McKenzie, president and CEO of the CTC. "The screenings will promote a side of Canada that will surprise many, and inspire more to book now and travel our country."
This unique initiative is part of a series being conducted internationally by the CTC. The campaign invites Canadians to visit the www.localsknow.ca site to share secrets with other local travellers and get great deals. The screenings are also being used abroad to invite travellers back to visit Canada now that the Olympic Games are over.
