Canadians Invited to Send Holiday Wishes to Canadian Troops By Signing Huge
Banner Destined for Afghanistan or By Uploading a Video Greeting
WHEN: THURSDAY, DECEMBER 2 12:30 p.m. WHERE: Sears Yonge-Dundas Store Toronto Eaton Centre (Just inside the Sears store, mall entrance) WHAT: Local military families and the public will gather for the official unveiling of a huge 8'x4' banner that they can sign before it is sent to Canadian troops in Afghanistan in time for Christmas. TORONTO, Dec. 1 /CNW/ - Canadians will be encouraged to send their Holiday wishes to Canadian troops at a special ceremony being held at the Sears Toronto Eaton Centre store at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 2, 2010. A huge 8'x4' banner will be unveiled for people to sign before it is shipped off to the Canadian Forces Base in Afghanistan in time for Christmas. In addition, a special website will be revealed where Canadians can post video messages that the deployed troops can view. It is all part of Sears Operation Wish, a program sponsored by Sears Canada in co-ordination with Director General Personnel and Family Support Services (DGPFSS) with the goal of helping connect Canadian troops with their families and the general public during the Holidays. The banner will be on display until December 8th for people to sign and the web site will stay up through the Holidays. Among those expected for the special ceremony include military family members from the GTA.
