Canadians invited to sign book of condolences for Downie family
KINGSTON, ON, Nov. 1, 2017 /CNW/ - In recognition of the life of Gord Downie, Arbor Memorial is inviting Canadians to share their condolences with the Downie family online and at its locations across Canada. Donations will also be received for The Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund, to pay tribute to Gord's dedication to reconciliation efforts.
Beginning on Wednesday, November 1, Arbor Memorial will welcome Canadians into their funeral homes and cemeteries across the country to share their memories of Downie, sign a book of condolences or make a donation. Once completed, memories and signatures from each location will be collected and shared with the Downie family as a keepsake. For those that are not able to attend, online condolences and donations will be available at ArborMemorial.ca/GordDownie.
"The outpouring of support Canadians have shown for Gord over the past two years has meant a great deal to our family," says Michael Downie, brother of Gord Downie. "We know his dedicated fans are mourning his passing and hope they can find comfort in sharing their memories and supporting his legacy."
Canadians looking to honour Downie's memory can visit ArborMemorial.ca/locations to find a location close to them.

In 2016, Mike and Gord Downie, alongside the Wenjack family, launched the Fund as a way to jumpstart this important work, starting today.
