CanBIM Supports and Acknowledges Member Participation in Newly Released National BIM Standard-United States®
TORONTO, Aug. 4, 2015 /CNW/ - The Canada BIM Council (CanBIM) thanks those members who had an active role in the development of the National BIM Standard-United States® (NBIMS-US™) Version 3 (V3), released July 22. CanBIM and its members, including The Mitchell Partnership, ASSA ABLOY, Ice Edge Business Solutions, Group2 Architecture Interior Design Ltd., DIALOG, Autodesk, Bentley Systems and GRAPHISOFT joined professionals from around the world in contributing to this open consensus process.
CanBIM acknowledges that Canadian BIM practitioners can rely on NBIMS-US standards. The council was instrumental in guiding the Planning Committee to ensure the standards are not U.S.-centric and can be adopted in any country including Canada. This multi-year process involved many volunteer hours of CanBIM members who offered their ideas to improve upon the NBIMS-US™ V2.
CanBIM President Allan Partridge represented Canada's interest via CanBIM. Allan served on the Technical Committee, Board of Direction, and the 2021 Task Group.
"Given the significant fiscal and temporal costs to develop NBIMS-US V3, CanBIM feels these standards can be adopted quickly, at low cost, with minor modifications to Canadianize its content," said Allan. "CanBIM looks forward to continuing to help shape these standards not only in the U.S. but also here in Canada. BIM, after all, is our members' business and NBIMS-US can serve their standardization needs effectively."
