Canadian e-trading leader partners with Sun Life Financial and CANFAR on industry charity day.
MONTREAL AND TORONTO, Nov. 14, 2012 /CNW/ - CanDeal, the leading electronic marketplace for Canadian fixed income securities, will donate all its trading revenues on November 28 to the Canadian Foundation for AIDS Research (CANFAR). This is the second year that CanDeal has partnered with CANFAR and Sun Life Financial to raise funds, in conjunction with the annual Bloor Street Entertains gala (www.bloorstreetentertains.ca) in Toronto.
"We look forward to building on the success of last year's charity trading day to further raise awareness and research dollars for CANFAR," said Jayson Horner, Co-Founder, President and CEO of CanDeal. "CanDeal is in a unique position, in that we can bring together institutional investors from around the globe and all of Canada's primary dealers to support a worthwhile cause."
CanDeal raised enough money from last year's charity trading day to fund a one-year research grant for Canadian HIV and AIDS research.
"We're excited to demonstrate our commitment once again to CANFAR," said Doug Gardiner, Senior Managing Director, Head of Canadian Public Fixed Income, at Sun Life Financial. "Being able to raise money for charity simply by going about one's day-to-day business is a wonderful opportunity for all of us in the financial industry."
Sun Life Financial has a strong affiliation with CANFAR's Bloor Street Entertains, and this is its third year as the Presenting Sponsor of CANFAR's award winning gala event.
This year marks the 16th anniversary of CANFAR's Bloor Street Entertains event. Since inception, CANFAR has raised more than $18 million for HIV and AIDS research and Bloor Street Entertains continues to play an important role in generating research dollars for the organization. "Bloor Street Entertains has not only grown into one of the premier charity events on Toronto's social calendar, but it also plays a significant role in our ability to generate large sums of money for life-saving HIV and AIDS research," said Christopher Bunting, President and CEO of CANFAR. "The strong partnerships we enjoy with CanDeal and Sun Life Financial are helping us raise awareness and meet our fundraising goals, which allow us to channel more research towards finding a vaccine for HIV and ultimately a cure for AIDS."
